Honda Powersports has partnered with Maersk, a logistics organization, to open a new distribution center in Phoenix, Arizona. The 150,000 square-foot facility will serve to help the company better ship and deliver machines like their ATVs and UTVs.

The announcement of the joint project came on July 19, 2024. Honda says it is looking to strengthen its regional dealer network in the Southwestern portion of the U.S.A., so creating this hub in Phoenix makes a lot of sense. Not only is it a good way for the company to triangulate the desert region, it also means close proximity to major population centers like Las Vegas This means smarter, more efficient distribution of vehicles is possible, as is an improved methodology for storing and warehousing recreational, utility, and outdoor equipment.

It took only 90 days for operations to begin at this new facility, which was completed in conjunction with signing Maersk Contract Logistics Team as the contract awardee. That's a very short period of time to find a building, sign a lease, and receive inventory, which bodes well for the partnership's ability to work well together. In addition to warehousing, the new Phoenix facility can also handle returns, some assembly of products, and quality control. And this isn't Maersk's first rodeo; the company has been working with Honda's warehousing operations since 2011.

"Phoenix offers us excellent proximity to our dealer network, which enhances our ability to serve customers more efficiently," said John Stevens, Director of Powersports Sales Operations at American Honda. "Maersk's deep knowledge of our business and rapid execution in establishing the new location has helped us drive forward on key aspects of our regional business strategy."

"We're privileged to support Honda's growth in an expanding market," said Jeff Kellan, Maersk North American Head of Contract Logistics. "Our distribution centers are a key node in the global chain of services we're able to provide to Honda, from ocean shipping and landside transportation to contract logistics. We look forward to honoring the relationship we've built over the years through reliable execution of services and delivering exceptional value, day in and day out, for years to come."
