Kawasaki USA has recalled the 2024 Mule PRO 1000 Off-Highway Utility Vehicles due to a fire hazard risk, as announced on July 25, 2024. The company and United States Consumer Product Safety Commission recommend that owners and users of these machines cease using them until they are repaired.

19,100 vehicles are affected by this recall. Recall number 24-312 under the CPSC was posted on July 25, 2024. It encompasses the Mule PRO 1000 line, including the Mule PRO-FX 1000, PRO-FXR 1000, and PRO-FXT 1000.The notice states the issue at hand is as follows:

"When starting the engine, improper combustion can occur, posing a fire hazard." Kawasaki will be covering the cost of the repair which must be done at a certified dealer's service department, and consumers should not drive their Mule PRO 1000 until this has been performed. The fix itself entails a reprogramming of the vehicle's engine control unit (ECU) and installing a sub-harness.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported due to the issue at hand, and only three fires have been reported. Good on Kawasaki for trying to stay ahead of this one, as we'd hate to see anyone's safety and well-being at risk.
